Leilani Norman is a visual artist, entrepreneur, award-winning designer, and parent. She completed a twenty-year arc of support to her parents when her mother died in late 2021. She is a visual artist, entrepreneur, award-winning designer, and parent. Leilani holds a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington and a BA in Psychology. She is a Positive Neuroplasticity Training facilitator.

Leilani is the creator of Caring is Art, an illustrated gift book for caregivers. Her interest in caregiver self-advocacy through nutrition and wellness are the subjects of two academic papers she wrote, Connecting the Dots: Nutrition and Cognitive Health (2020), and Optimal Caregiving: Fostering Cooperation Between Direct Care Workers and Residents’ Family Members (2021).

Seattle-based broadcaster and podcast host Laurie Hardie interviewed Leilani on her show, “Spotlight with Laurie Hardie” in February 2022. Laurie and Leilani discussed the joys and challenges of dementia caregiving and the opportunities for personal and spiritual growth while caring for someone. In the 22-minute episode, Leilani shares her personal experience with her mother, offers facts about dementia and suggests ways that we can help those we know are caring for a parent, a partner, or a friend. Laurie says, “Your book is a comfort, it’s a connection and when I look at it, I immediately want to go get it and give it to my friends who are caregivers, because it’s so beautiful and you’re validating the caregiver.” https://www.podcastone.com/episode/Spotlighting-Caring-is-Art-With-Leilani–Norman
