I started a new painting on canvas the other day. Because I wanted rich colors for an abstract landscape, I chose to tone the canvas with orange. A mixture of yellow ochre and light cadmium red felt right, so I mixed it up and applied it with my tried and true brayer to create texture and variations in the application of the paint.

The result pleased me, so I carried on to the next step, adding green-blue and gray-blue sections.
