Pretty Patterns

I am teaching myself how to paint with gouache, a type of watercolor. My art practice had previously been exclusively acrylic on canvas and wood panel, typically 30”x40” up to 48”x60”. These small watercolors are painted on very smooth, hot press paper. I’m mounting them on 16”x20” hardboard panels from Richeson (made in USA).

The process is very loose; as usual, I do not know what I will make before I start painting. Beginning in the mental state of “Not Knowing” is the basis of my art practice.
